Searles Family Website

Richard Sylvester Searles (1824-1908): His father died when he was a young boy. At age of 15 he went to work on the Erie Canal to support his widowed mother and his sister. In 1855 he married Celinda Jane Tarbell daughter of Thomas and Linda Miller Tarbell. Mr. Searles was a highly respected citizen, a man of strict integrity and honor. He was buried in the Peruville Cemetery. (Abbrev. Groton and Lansing Journal 6/10/1908)
